Shannon K and her father, the legendary Bollywood playback singer Kumar Sanu, join forces once again on the new upbeat track “9 to 5.” The song is written and composed by Annabelle Kumaar and arranged by Luigie “Lugo” Gonzalez, a GRAMMY-nominated producer.
“9 to 5” merges Bollywood, Hollywood, and the Latin music world to send out an important message to the working man: You are not alone. While the upbeat song aims to lift listeners’ spirits, it also serves as a statement reaching out to those stuck in the routine of a 9 to 5 job. It encourages and inspires them to break away from predetermined paths in their lives and explore their passions.
The song poses a poignant question to society: “Will you let me live the life I want to live? Free me from the sins that you commit,” referring to the effects of big corporations on society, the environment, and people’s mental health. It highlights how the common man is expected to work tirelessly to sustain the economy while making adjustments to save the planet, all while those in control pull the strings.
Shannon and her father previously collaborated on their first duet, “Magical,” seven years ago. Check out their latest social project, “9 to 5.”
