Judith Ann Robertson: Bridging Cultures Through Worship and Song

22

Judith Ann Robertson is a unique artist with a rich cultural background. She comes from an English and Scottish heritage but has become a French citizen after spending many years in France. Her time in France has deeply influenced her music, as she has developed a passion for writing contemporary worship songs in French. Her music is special because she mixes modern sounds with folk instruments, creating a blend that is both fresh and rooted in tradition.

One of Judith’s most personal and touching songs is “Quiet Waters” or “Rester dans ta presence” in French. This song is part of her album “Father’s House,” which was created to share her deep love for life and faith with others. The album itself is a translation of her first French album, “Rebâtir ta maison,” which shows her desire to connect with her British roots while also embracing her life in France. The production of “Father’s House” was handled by guitarist Paul May, who did an excellent job bringing Judith’s vision to life, even though his guitars are not the main focus on this album.

Judith’s music is a reflection of her diverse influences. Some of her songs remind listeners of artists like Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, with their gentle rhythms, harmonies, and emotional melodies. Other songs carry the pop-rock vibe of the Midlands, where she originally comes from. Judith has released three albums and several singles, all available on popular music platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Her work is always evolving, as she explores new styles and ideas.

One of her recent projects includes a song for peace in Ukraine, with versions in both English and French. This shows her commitment to using her music to speak on important issues. “Quiet Waters” stands out as one of Judith Ann Robertson’s signature songs, capturing the essence of her unique musical journey and her heartfelt connection to both her faith and her listeners.
