On October 12, 2023, Damien Jones released a new track titled “Lifelong Disease” after the success of his previous six releases (thousands of streams and radio airplay, including from BBC introducing – UK). Lyrically ambiguous, “Lifelong Disease” is about the corrosive aftereffects of adultery in a relationship, which in Damien’s case led to someone he trusted infecting him with HIV.Fast-paced rhythms, synths, and guitars set off an emotional call and response with the lyrics.
Lifelong Disease is Damien’s most heartfelt and genuine creation to date, and it has a profound impact. Damien, who grew up in Melbourne, Australia, and currently resides in London, UK, draws influence from a diverse range of musicians, from fellow Australians like Hollow Coves and Matt Corby to international superstars like Madonna and Taylor Swift. Jules Konieczny (other credits include Tom Grennan, APRE, and Ethan Hodges) produced the music at London’s Urchin Studios. Mount Olympia Mastering did the mastering for it.
