The new song “Somebody Who’s Not Me” by Chloé Sautereau, a singer-songwriter who was born and raised in Switzerland, is finally out.
The artist continues her run of understated songs after “Ten Thousand Stories” and “Get to Know You Game” earlier this year, showcasing her imaginative story-telling and unashamedly intimate tone.
Chloé produced Somebody Who’s Not Me at Corner Store Studios with CJ Colon, with the assistance of contemporaries Emma Wellons on bass and Luke Girzadas on vocal production. Her voice and grounded guitar are the stakes when everything is stripped back. Harry Burr mixed and mastered the song.
According to Chloe, “Somebody Who’s Not Me” emerged during a period of genuine vulnerability, self-doubt, and deep introspection. It was a time when she felt helpless and uncertain about her direction in life, questioning whether she could achieve her goals and aspirations.
In response to this challenging moment, Chloe deliberately turned inward, seeking answers within herself.
The song, “Somebody Who’s Not Me,” was born out of this introspection, flowing from her in a way that fostered personal growth. Chloe describes it as the song that resonates most closely with her true self among all the songs she has ever written.
While she always strives for honesty in her songwriting, this particular composition represents a level of raw and unfiltered honesty that she had not previously dared to explore within herself.
She has been featured on major Swiss radio stations for some time. At the age of 18, she released her debut EP As I Keep on Dreaming under the name Cee, which was followed by the singles “Conversation Hearts” and “What If” under the stage name “sautereau” after she moved to New York.
A universe truer to herself is still being painted by Chloé Sautereau today, both instrumentally and thematically, as she is inspired by concepts about the intricacies of human nature, relationships, and attempting to discover oneself in the chaos of it all.
