Steve Depew has just unveiled his new single, “Times Like These,” a deeply reflective piece inspired by the biblical figure Job from the Old Testament. Depew draws from Job’s profound reaction to the myriad calamities he faced, ultimately culminating in a response of worship and recognition of God’s sovereignty. This poignant theme resonates throughout the song, making it not just a personal reflection but also a universal message of faith and resilience.

“Times Like These” is the inaugural release in Depew’s ambitious project to unveil twelve singles over the course of a year, with new music dropping on the second Friday of each month. Following closely, his next single, “How Can I Question,” is set for release on September 13th, promising fans a consistent stream of heartfelt music.

Hailing from Adrian, Michigan, Depew’s musical journey has been eclectic. He began in the hip-hop scene as Serious and later performed with Harmelodic Soulz during his teens and early twenties. His exploration into country music led him to Nashville, where he sought to make his mark but ultimately pivoted to writing Christian worship music for others. With “Times Like These,” he takes a bold step as a solo artist, expressing his desire to share truth through music: “If people are going to hear the truth, I need to be releasing this music.”

Depew’s influences are rich and varied, ranging from Christian rap group Grits and pop-punk bands like Yellowcard to country songwriters like Jamey Johnson. He also finds inspiration in classical instrumentals and worship bands like Celtic Worship featuring Steph Macleod. With “Times Like These,” Steve Depew combines these influences into an authentic expression of faith that aims to glorify God through every note and lyric.
