From the success of their first album and subsequent tour around Australia, which included stops at the National Folk Festival in Canberra in 2023 and the Cygnet Folk Festival in Tasmania, Sister duo, Oceanique, winners of the 2022 Folk Alliance Australia “Youth Artist of the Year” award, are back with a charming new version of “Anything At All” on Wednesday, October 11th.
Their debut album, Would the Light Hold Me, has captivated listeners all over the country with its beautiful harmonies and unmistakable sister affinity. Oceanique’s new approach as an artist gives the album’s most popular single a whole new feel.
Released on October 11th, their new take on “Anything At All,” reworked by Lukas Drinkwater (UK), is a dreamy sonic landscape of electric guitar, percussion, and synth, anchored by a warm double bass. Lyrics about feeling powerless when you most want to be able to assist are set to a backdrop of heavenly sisterly related voices, guitar melodies, and the percussion and bass of Lukas Drinkwater. When the situation’s fraying threads become apparent, you have no choice but to watch helplessly as it unravels.
